Her first single, "Mr Rebel" (2018), was self-produced.
"Try Me" (2019) built a loyal following, and her feature on Wizkid's "Essence" (2020) made her a star.
In 2022 Future and Drake's "Wait for U", built on her song "Higher", debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100, making her the first African woman to top the chart.
Tems won the Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance for "Wait for U" (2023), the first Grammy for a Nigerian woman, and Best African Music Performance for "Love Me JeJe" at the 67th Grammys.
Her debut album Born in the Wild came out in June 2024, followed by the EP Love Is a Kingdom in 2025.
In 2025 she joined the ownership group of San Diego FC, becoming the first African woman to co-own a Major League Soccer team.
In 2026 her song "Raindance" with Dave became her first UK No. 1.
