The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) raised passport fees to these amounts from 1 September 2025. Fees for Nigerians abroad are paid in other currencies. Always confirm the current fee on the official NIS website before you pay.

🧾 What you need

  • Your National Identification Number (NIN) — the portal checks it, and your details must match it
  • A recent passport photo with a plain white background
  • Birth certificate (or a sworn declaration of age)
  • Certificate of state of origin (from your LGA)
  • Guarantor’s form, signed as required
  • For children: parents’ consent and the child’s NIN; parents attend the capture
  • For renewal: your old passport

🪜 Step by step

  1. Go to the official NIS passport portalVisit the Nigeria Immigration Service website (immigration.gov.ng) and use its passport application link. Type the address yourself.
  2. Fill the application formChoose fresh application or renewal, enter and verify your NIN, choose the booklet type and your processing office.
  3. Upload photo and documentsFollow the size and background rules for the photo, then upload your supporting documents.
  4. Pay onlinePay on the portal. Keep your Application ID, reference number and receipt.
  5. Book your capture dateChoose an available appointment for biometric capture (photo and fingerprints) at your chosen office.
  6. Attend the captureGo with printed copies of your slip, receipt, form and original documents.
  7. Collect your passportTrack your application and collect it when it is ready, as directed by the NIS.
⚠️
Avoid touts

Do not pay roadside agents or anyone promising to “speed up” your passport. The NIS says payments should go through the official portal only — fake agents take money and some sell fake passports.

💡
Fix NIN errors first

Check that your name, date of birth and state of origin on your NIN are correct before you apply. Errors must be fixed with NIMC first, and fixing them later can delay your passport.
