Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde — “Omosexy” — is one of Nollywood’s most famous actresses, with hundreds of films since the 1990s. In 2013 she became the first African actress named among TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people.

Early life and breakthrough
Omotola grew up in Lagos and studied estate management. She became a star with Mortal Inheritance (1996), and went on to act in English- and Yoruba-language films throughout the golden years of Nollywood.
She released music, including the album GBA (2005), appeared on the American TV show Hot in Cleveland, and has worked as a United Nations World Food Programme ambassador and advocate for young people and women.
Recognition
In 2013 TIME magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. She has won many Nollywood awards and remains a role model for younger actors.
She married pilot Captain Matthew Ekeinde in 1996, and they have four children.
