Woman reportedly kidnapped on her way to work in Abuja

The family of a woman identified as Esther Jonathan, has raised the alarm over her alleged kidnapping in Abuja. 

A Kaduna activist, Atyotiyap, said Esther reportedly went missing after boarding a vehicle at Jikoyi, Karu, Abuja, while on her way to work on Monday, October 12, 2026. 

According to her brother, who raised the alarm, individuals suspected to be her kidnappers later contacted them and demanded a ransom of N5 million.

He reportedly provided a recording of a telephone conversation between Jonathan’s sister and the individuals allegedly making the ransom demand.

Following the development, the family said the matter had been reported to the police for investigation.

Her brother said efforts were underway to visit the sister’s residence to establish contact and obtain further information.

The family has appealed to the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to investigate the reported disappearance, trace those allegedly involved and ensure Jonathan’s safe return.

Members of the public who may have useful information about her whereabouts have also been urged to assist the family and the relevant authorities.
