Kenyan woman shares her personal testimony of surviving domestic abuse
A Kenyan woman, Lydia Chemu, has gone viral after sharing how she survived domestic abuse. According to Lydia, she endured four years of relentless abuse at the hands of her husband, Kim JJ. She revealed that throughout the marriage, he beat her regularly and often strangled her. She also claimed that he cut one of her ears, adding that their home was a constant war zone. The violence did not stop when she was eight months pregnant. It continued even one week after she gave birth. Their home, she said, was a constant war zone. Her Kim JJ repeatedly told her to leave but she stayed because she had nowhere else to go with the children. She feared returning to her family home and facing judgment. On one occasion her friends intervened and pulled her out after he tried to kill her with kicks. Those kicks cost her teeth.  The same friends later raised money so she could finally escape. In a video posted after leaving the marriage, she said she will not go back. âDon't be soo harsh on me... finally I have left. I will rise again. I will go back to my previous self..... Thanks guys...I have received a lot of positive support...I have been thru hell and back but it shall be well,â she added.  Her painful story and photos have sparked widespread discussion on domestic violence across Kenya social media platforms, drawing heavy condemnation and calls for legal action against her husband. Â
