Man who killed girlfriend and sent video of her lifeless body to her family, filmed making signs and saying inaudible words to them in court

A mild drama played out in  Kenyan court yesterday after one Nelson Ambia accused of killed his girlfriend and allegedly sending a video of her lifeless body to her family, was caught on tape making signs at them while muttering inaudible words to them.

The suspect appeared before the court following his arrest in Naivasha, Nakuru County, in connection with the alleged elimination of his girlfriend, Feruz Hussein.

According to investigators, the couple had been living together in a rented house in Sunton, Kasarani, before the incident. Court documents indicate that investigators suspect a disagreement between the couple on September 30 preceded Hussein’s death.

Detectives allege that Ambia strangled Hussein and subsequently recorded a video showing her lifeless body on a bed. The footage was reportedly sent to members of her family, including her brother, sister and mother.

The video allegedly contained a man’s voice saying, “Pumzika Kwa Amani,” a Swahili expression meaning “Rest in peace.”

After receiving the footage, Hussein’s brother reportedly contacted the police, prompting officers to visit the couple’s residence, where they discovered her body.

The body was subsequently transferred to Kenyatta University Funeral Home for preservation and examination.

According to an investigating officer’s affidavit, an autopsy conducted on October 15 identified strangulation as the cause of death.

Ambia was arrested on October 20 at a hideout in Naivasha following a police manhunt and is facing a murder charge under Sections 203 and 204 of Kenya’s Penal Code, subject to the outcome of the investigations and the prosecution’s decision.
