Who is Portable?
Portable is a Nigerian street-pop singer and rapper famous as much for his loud personality and viral moments as for his music. His catchphrases and videos are a constant feature of Nigerian social media.
Early life
Habeeb Okikiola Badmus was born on 12 March 1994 in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He started releasing singles from 2019 while hustling in the Ogun–Lagos street scene.
Breakthrough
"Zazoo Zeh" (2021) became a street anthem, and its remix with Olamide and Poco Lee turned him into a national name. Other songs include "Ogo Forever" (2022), "Tony Montana" with UK rapper Skepta (2024), "Ganusi" (2025) and "Motini Fra" (2026). He runs his own label, Zeh Nation. He was nominated for Best Street Artist and Rookie of the Year at the 2022 Headies.
Controversies and legal issues
Portable's career has been full of headlines. In early 2022 he accused former business partner Kogbagidi of cheating him; the two later settled. In March 2023 police arrested him over an alleged assault, and he was charged at the Ifo High Court in Ogun State. In February 2025 the Ogun State Police Command declared him wanted, and he surrendered to the Lagos State CID in Yaba.
In 2026 he moved into celebrity boxing. He lost to skit maker Carter Efe on 1 May 2026, then lost a rematch-style bout to Charles Okocha in August 2026 after being disqualified, and responded with a diss track.
